The CIB UK Strategy team is primarily focused on strategic planning, execution, and coordination for the UK branch. Their core responsibilities include collaborating on the definition and delivery of strategic projects, preparing regular Strategy updates for Top Management, and identifying initiatives for growth and efficiency.



They are also responsible for monitoring and coordinating CIB's key strategic plans, implementing performance assessment, and providing transversal support to business lines and all key areas within the UK branch, while also supporting the UK Country Head.



About the job:



Role Purpose


Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of the Commercial Strategy for the UK Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business. Partner with bankers and product teams to ensure client strategies translate into tangible commercial outcomes, drive profitability, and align with strategic priorities. A key focus will be identifying and enabling cross-sell opportunities — both within the UK and across international franchises — to maximise the overall profitability of client relationships.



Key Responsibilities



  • Define and manage the commercial strategy framework for CIB UK client relationships.

  • Support bankers in developing and executing client strategies, ensuring alignment with profitability, risk, and strategic goals.

  • Identify and track cross-sell opportunities across products, sectors, and geographies (UK and cross-border).

  • Monitor relationship profitability (revenues, margins, RoRWA, cost of funds) and drive performance improvement actions.

  • Produce regular dashboards, analysis, and reporting to senior management on commercial and profitability performance.

  • Coordinate across Coverage, Product, Finance, and Risk to align strategic objectives with execution plans.

  • Lead or support strategic growth initiatives (e.g., client segmentation, cross-sell, sector or regional strategy).

  • Promote a culture of commercial discipline, collaboration, and accountability across banker teams.



Skills & Experience



  • 10+ years in corporate or investment banking, strategy, or financial performance roles.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen (P&L, RoC, profitability analysis).

  • Proven experience in identifying and executing cross-sell opportunities and growth strategies.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills.

  • Experience in strategic planning, execution tracking, and stakeholder management.

  • Team leadership or coaching experience desirable.
